The fashion Designer Willy Chavarrias represents his Mexican roots and political thoughts through his clothing and styles he creates.Willy Chavarrias is 56 year old man who lives in brooklyn, before becoming the designer he is today he used to work for joe Boxer and then Ralph Lauren.
According to Erin Graham interview Willie Chavarria was working at Joe Boxer in the shipping department working in shipping and packaging for wholesale orders. He later on started to design underwear for them. He then went to work for Ralph Lauren and where he learned about luxury design. Working for these two companies is where Chavarria learned how to connect with people and how a brand mass produces.
Chavarria has a unique way of picking hes model to wear his clothing according to Graham interview Chavarria said that he picks his model from the streets because in hes words “ there are some really great looking people in the world” he puts personality into consideration when choosing a model also because he says he needs the clothes to feel right if not it’s just basically putting clothes on a hanger. This interesting way of looking at things because it feels like he wants the viewer to connect with the model more since they know the one who is wearing the outfit is just like them and understand the same day to day struggle.
